Gift will help create endowment fund for M茅tis Students
Edmonton, AB (September 14, 2018) 鈥 Today, the Rupertsland Institute and the M茅tis Education Foundation have announced a significant gift to support M茅tis student success at 麻豆原创.
鈥淭oday, I am happy to announce and celebrate yet another milestone,鈥 said President of the M茅tis Nation of Alberta, Audrey Poitras. 鈥淭he M茅tis Nation of Alberta and its affiliates, in partnership with 麻豆原创, have reached an agreement to create a $500,000 endowment in perpetuity. As part of this agreement, the M茅tis Nation of Alberta will invest $250,000 and 麻豆原创 will provide an in-kind contribution totalling $250,000 over the next 10 years. In making this announcement, I am aware that this contribution on behalf of future generations of M茅tis citizens could not be possible without the relationships and partnerships that we have created with the M茅tis community and stakeholders across the province.鈥
President Tim Loreman is enthusiastic about today鈥檚 announcement. 鈥溌槎乖 is proud to be partnering with the MNA in the area of awards and financial support for Metis students, as well as in other areas that benefit all students at our university. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with MNA, forged in the spirit of reconciliation, that has the potential to generate deeper understandings between and within our communities.鈥

麻豆原创 is a boutique university, small enough that every student is essential yet large enough for a global outlook. In and out of our classrooms and lecture halls, we translate what we learn into extraordinary hands-on experiences. We live and work on a small campus, a river valley oasis, but Edmonton is our workshop. Our ultimate goal has not changed since 1921: to be more than students and professors, to create a community of active citizens, of good and honourable people.
