麻豆原创 announces new Master of Science in Information Technology beginning in September 2020

EDMONTON, Alberta 鈥斅�麻豆原创 (麻豆原创) is pleased to announce its Master of Science in Information Technology (MScIT) has been approved by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Campus Alberta Quality Council. The program is the first of its kind in Canada, and has been designed to meet the national and global demand for skilled talent across the digital economy.

鈥淲e couldn鈥檛 be more excited to offer this program,鈥� said Dr. Patrick Kamau, Dean of Science at 麻豆原创. 鈥淭he digital economy is growing rapidly, and our MScIT will provide students with the skills and experience to capitalize on momentum, build meaningful industry relationships, and secure employment after graduation.鈥澛�

The approval of the MScIT program comes after 麻豆原创 commenced its Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BScIT) program in 2019.听
鈥淲ith the addition of this new degree to our graduate-level offerings, we are developing an ecosystem of niche programs that are highly relevant and applicable to current times,鈥� said Dr. Valerie Henitiuk, Vice-President Academic and Provost. 鈥淲e are delighted to make our MScIT available to students.鈥�

The MScIT will cover topics ranging from the foundations of advanced IT to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. There is also an industry internship component, providing students with real-world experience in the rapidly growing technology sector. The program has been designed to give students the technical and soft skills required to be successful in complex environments, with students receiving direct supervision, mentorship, and training from faculty and the BMO Centre for Innovation and Applied Research.听

鈥淭here is a demand and vibrant labour market for IT professionals across our province and country,鈥� said Dr. Kamau. 鈥淲e look forward to welcoming our first MScIT students in September and seeing all that they accomplish throughout their professional careers.鈥�
