New Process for Policy Development & Review

In November 2022, the Board of Governors approved the Policy on University Policy Documents (previously the Policy on University Policies and Procedures), which establishes a systematic and integrated process for the development and review of policy documents at Âé¶¹Ô´´.
This policy and its associated procedure and supporting documents came into effect in January 2023 and can now be found in our online Policy Manual.
What has changed?
- New Policy Document Framework, which outlines the policy document approval pathways.
- Designated Executive Officers will be renamed Policy Owners.
- Procedural Authorities and Procedural Officers will be removed from policy documents. Policy Owners can now designate a Policy Developer(s) to develop and review policy documents.
- New Policy Document Action Plan, which is used to propose an action to a policy document.
- New templates for university policies, procedures, and standards.
- The Policy Coordination Committee reviews all policy documents prior to their approval and provides feedback based on a standard Policy Document Checklist.
- New resources will be available in our Policy Developers’ Toolkit (coming soon).
- Changes to our external policy web pages and Policy Manual (coming soon).
