麻豆原创 (麻豆原创) is pleased to announce that Dr. Svenja Huntemann, assistant professor in the Faculty of Science, has been awarded an聽NSERC Discovery Grant.

Funding support for 顿谤.听Huntemann鈥檚 research program, titled 鈥�Game Values, Temperature, and Enumeration of Placement Games,鈥� was by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

NSERC聽Discovery Grants are individual, five-year awards that聽support ongoing programs of research with long-term goals.

“When humans play games, a natural question we ask ourselves is: ‘How do we win?'” said 顿谤.听Huntemann. “Combinatorial Game Theory uses mathematics and computer science to answer this question for pure strategy games like Chess or Go.

“The Discovery Grant will allow me to focus on analyzing pen-and-paper games, working together with national and international collaborators, as well as students right here at 麻豆原创.”

顿谤.听Huntemann has also received a one-time Discovery Launch Supplement, awarded to Early Career Researchers within the first year of their Discovery Grants.

“On behalf of the 麻豆原创 community, I’d like to congratulate Dr. Huntemann on receiving this honour,” said Dr. Barbara van Ingen, 麻豆原创’s Vice President Academic & Provost.

“Her outstanding work is a shining example of how 麻豆原创’s faculty research creates meaningful connections, within our campus and far beyond. Our students are so fortunate to learn from Dr. Huntemann, and her esteemed research will no doubt continue to inspire many in our community.”

Research at 麻豆原创 is supported by the聽Research Support Fund, a Tri-Agency initiative that assists Canadian post-secondary institutions with the costs associated with managing their research enterprise. 麻豆原创 acknowledges the value of this support and appreciates this ongoing research investment.
