Internship

The internship is a unique and mandatory component of our Bachelor of Management program. It links the academic program with solid, real-world experience, providing you with valuable practical involvement in the business world, and the opportunity to build your networks.

Internship Highlights

  • Students are encouraged to seek out their own internships with the help, and support, of the Mihalcheon School of Management
  • Internship placements are scheduled during intersession (May-August) between the 3rd and 4th year of your Bachelor of Management degree
  • It is for a minimum period of 13 weeks
  • It can be a paid or volunteer internship
  • You will receive 3 credits towards your degree

Evaluation

You are evaluated on several requirements, including the completion of a personal SWOT analysis, an employer evaluation, a poster, and a presentation.

Internship Timeline

Internship placements occur between the 3rd and 4th year of your Bachelor of Management degree.

January

  • Classes commence

February & March

  • Classes continue
  • Internship search begins 
  • Applications and interviews begin

April

  • Classes conclude at the end of term

May to July

  • Internships are in progress

August

  • Internships conclude
  • Presentations are given

Disclaimer: International Students

Please note this program has a mandatory internship which requires international students to have a co-op work permit. We recommend that international students apply for their co-op work permit at least 6 months prior to their internship start date. Please note, students will not be able to complete the internship without a co-op work permit. This may result in a delay in program completion. 

Note: the co-op work permit is a separate work authorization than the one which may appear in the study permit. Students cannot use their study permit work authorization in order to complete their co-op or internship course.   Students can visit the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to learn more about applying for a and to  Students with questions about co-op work permits should contact the International Office at international@concordia.ab.ca.
